Wing span:

Identification: This species is sexually dimorphic. Males are bright iridescent blue with dark brown submargins and veins. The apex and subapex of the forewings are also dark brown. The hindwings have alternating dark brown bands from mid to termen. The forewings have a large black ocellus on the upperside, just below mid-costa, with three bluish pupils. Additionally, there is two dark brown bands on the outer side of the ocellus, which also do not appear on the underside. Females are dark brown with alternating white bands from mid to termen on the hindwings (the bands broaden moving from mid to termen), and large black ocellus (with three bluish pupils) below mid-costa on the forewings (appears on the underside as well, unlike in males). The ocellus is enclosed by a few light brown rings, and there is a white outer postdiscal band (that also appears on the underside) on the outer side of the ocellus (this band is in line with the outermost white band on the hindwings).
