Periander metalmark

Wing span:

Identification: The wings are black with a long tail on each hindwing. The forewings have a pale yellow postdiscal band, which is continuous with the short submarginal band on the hindwings. The hindwings have a red tornal band, a red spot at mid-dorsum, and an iridescent dark blue band radiating from the base and running centrally to fan out at the termen and into the tail. The wings have a second pale yellow band on the underside, on the inner side of the postdiscal/submarginal band. There is also a bit of pale yellow marking below the red tornal band on the hindwings. The forewings are red at the costa from base to just before mid-costa., and there are a few red basal spots below the red costal band.
