Wing span:

Identification: The wings are dark brown on the upperside and light brown on the underside. The hindwings are pointed at the tornus and have a row of elongated oval black ocelli on the underside in the outer postdiscal and subapical regions, each with a light brown outline. The forewings have three black subapical ocelli, each with a light brown outline, and small light brown lunules below these. The ocelli on the both fore- and hindwings occur on a broad dark brown band that extends from the postdiscal region to the submargins. Both fore- and hindwings also have a broad central red band with a thin iridescent purplish outline running vertically from costa to dorsum. On the hindwings, the central red band merges on to a perpendicular iridescent reddish-purple band running the length of the dorsum and getting thicker towards the tornus. The hindwings have a silverish submarginal band (on the outer side of the ocelli) sandwiched between two orangish bands.
