Wing span:

Identification: The wings are black with a broad central oblique white band on the forewings and a central white patch on the hindwings. The hindwings also have a red marking below the costa and another red marking at mid-dorsum. The forewings have a bit of a purplish tint on the underside between and around two small black postbasal bands. There is also a bit of a purplish tint above the red mid-dorsum marking on the underside of the hindwings. There is a small white marking near the red costal marking and another near the dorsal marking on the underside of the hindwings. The body is dark brown on the upper- and undersides, with a red marking on the underside at the abdomen.
