Whitened bluewing

Wing span:

Identification: The wings are dark brown on the upperside with an iridescent purplish-blue tint (except at the margins and submargins) and white markings. The forewings have two horizontal white stripes running from the base to discal region, and several white spots on the remainder of the wings. The hindwings have four horizontal central white stripes and three white spots near the apex. The underside of the forewings is dark brown with white spots and the underside of the hindwings is light brown with faint wavy lines running from costa to dorsum. 

Variation: There is variation in the amount of iridescent purplish-blue tint on the upperside of the wings.
