Wing span:

Identification: The wings are dark brown on the upperside with a vertical iridescent blue tint (dull and less extensive in females) from the discal to outer postdiscal regions. The forewings have three white apical spots. The underside of the wings is also dark brown with alternating white and yellow submarginal lines. The wings also have a central whitish wavy band. The forewings have three black ocelli on the outer side of the central band, each with a white pupil and a yellow outline followed by thin dark brown and white outlines. The hindwings have four black ocelli occurring along the outer side of the central band, each with a white pupil and a yellow outline followed by thin dark brown and white outlines. One of the ocelli on the hindwings is slightly larger than the others and occurs close to the costa, while the remaining three occur from mid to dorsum in a row. The basal and postbasal regions have whitish markings, and the dorsum of the hindwings has oblique white stripes.
