Boisduval's leafwing

Wing span:

Identification: The wings are leaf-like and dark brown on the upperside, with an iridescent blue tint from mid to base in females and on most of the wings in males. The forewings have three iridescent blue-tinted white subapical spots and an iridescent blue-tinted white outer postdiscal spot close to the dorsum. The hindwings have a tail-like projection just below mid-termen and tiny white-crowned black tornal ocelli. The underside of the wings has a blotchy greyish-brown appearance, and resembles dried foliage. The body is iridescent blue on the upperside and brown on the underside. 

Variation: There is variation in the number of tornal ocelli.
