Ruddy daggerwing

Wing span:

Identification: The wings are bright orange on the upperside with dark brown vertical stripes. The costal margin and submargin of the forewings and the termenal margin and submargin of the hindwings are dark brown. The hindwings have two tail-like projections at the tornus and three black tornal ocelli. The underside of the wings is a blotchy, shimmery brownish-purple. There is a dark brown line running vertically on the centre of the wings. The inner side of the line is more purplish than the outer side. The wings have a series of faint black-pupilled ocelli at the outer postdiscal to submarginal region, each with a faint outline. The body is orange on the upperside and whitish-brown on the underside.
