Mimic

Wing span:

Identification: This species is sexually dimorphic. Males are dark brown on the upperside with a central white patch and an apical white patch on the forewings, and a central white patch on the hindwings. Females are orange from mid to dorsum and dark brown elsewhere on the forewings, and orange from base to submargin of the hindwings. The dark brown region of the forewings has a white apical band and an upper, outer postdiscal white band, both consisting of several spots. The forewings have two rows of white markings at the termenal submargin. The hindwings have a black spot at mid-costa and whitish-orange submarginal lunules at the termen. The white markings on the upperside of the wings of males appear larger on the underside. Additionally, the wings have two rows of white submarginal lunules and a row of tiny white spots in the outer postdiscal region on the underside, and three white spots (in a black patch) from the postbasal to basal regions of the forewings near the costa. The hindwings also have a black spot at mid-costa on the underside. Females have a second black spot on the underside of the hindwings (appears faintly on the upperside). Like males, females have two rows of white submarginal lunules and a row of tiny white spots in the outer postdiscal region on the underside, and three white spots (in a black patch) from the postbasal to basal regions of the forewings near the costa.
