Turquoise cracker

Wing span:

Identification: The wings and body are black on the upperside and marbled with turquoise. The forewings have a central oblique white band and three or four faint subapical ocelli (each with a turquoise pupil and broken outline). The hindwings have a bit of white at the costa and apex. The hindwings also have six submarginal ocelli, each with a turquoise outline. All of the ocelli have a turquoise pupil, except for the one closest to the tornus. The wings are dark brown on the underside. The central white band on the upperside of the forewings is visible on the underside. The hindwings have a few brick red patches at the base and four brick red spots from mid-termen to tornus.
