Wing span:

Identification: The wings and body are black on the upperside and marbled with bluish-green. The forewings have a central oblique white band, a white spot near the apex and four faint subapical ocelli (each with a bluish-green pupil and broken outline). The hindwings have a bit of white at the costa and apex. The hindwings also have six submarginal ocelli, each with a bluish-green outline. All of the ocelli have a bluish-green pupil, except for the one closest to the tornus. The central white band on the upperside of the forewings is visible on the underside, along with the white spot near the apex. There are also three smaller white spots in place of where the subapical ocelli occur on the upperside. The outer region of the central white band is black while the inner region is dark brown. The base of the forewings is brick red at the costa. The hindwings are brick red from the outer postdiscal region to the base, and black at the margins and submargins. The veins in the brick red region also appear broadly black. There are four white spots near the apex.
