Plain purplewing

Identification: The wings are dark brown on the upperside with white fringe. The forewings have a central white band (containing five spots) and a subapical white band (containing three spots). Males have an iridescent purple tint from the outer postdiscal region to the base of the forewings. The underside of the wings is brown, with the forewings having a dark brown centre. The hindwings have a faint postdiscal band (with a dark brown wavy outline) containing three faint ocelli - a double ocellus near the apex and two ocelli near the tornus. Each ocellus has a yellowish-brown outline. The costa of the hindwings has a bit of white. The body is dark brown on the upperside and light brown on the underside.
