Wing span:

Identification: The wings are dark brown on the upperside with white fringe and a thin whitish submarginal band from mid to tornus on the hindwings. The margins on the hindwings are also white. Males are blue on the upperside excepting the dark brown margins, submargins, apex and veins. The underside of the wings is alternating brown and blue stripes, appearing zebra-like. The forewings have three black subapical ocelli, each with a yellow outline followed by a thinner dark brown outline. The central ocellus is bipupilled. The hindwings have four black ocelli occurring in pairs, one pair at the subapex and the other above the tornus. The inner ocellus of each pair is bipupilled while the outer ocellus is unipupilled. Each ocellus has a  yellow outline followed by a thinner dark brown outline.
