Wing span:

Identification: The wings are purplish-brown on the upperside with five ocelli on the outer postdiscal region of the hindwings. Each ocellus has a whitish outline, and four have a white pupil. The hindwings are serrated at the termen. Both fore- and hindwings have dark brown and white wavy submarginal lines. The wings are also purplish-brown on the underside. The forewings have three (two black and one brown) subapical ocelli, each with a white pupil and yellow outline. The five ocelli on the hindwings appear (moving from the apex to the tornus) as two black ocelli, two brown ocelli and one black ocellus, each with a white pupil and yellow outline. Both fore- and hindwings have a central dark brown line and a postbasal dark brown line, both running from costa to dorsum. There is a dark brown band on the outer side of the central line, where the ocelli occur, which does not have much purplish colouration.
