White-spotted Prepona

Wing span:

Identification: The wings are dark brown on the upperside with a central iridescent greenish-blue band running from mid to dorsum on the forewings, and from below the costa to tornus on the hindwings. The forewings also have an iridescent greenish-blue marking below the costa, in line with the central band. The hindwings have a white patch at the costa and two tiny black-outlined iridescent greenish-blue tornal ocelli. The underside of the wings is light brown at the basal and postbasal regions of the forewings and from mid to base of the hindwings, and brown in the remaining regions of both fore- and hindwings. The light brown regions have some black markings. The forewings have a bit of black at the dorsum and the cell above the dorsum. The hindwings have six small brown submarginal spots running from the apex to tornus. The tornal ocelli of the hindwings are visible on the underside. The body is dark brown on the upperside and light brown on the underside, and the proboscis is red.
