Common brown Morpho

Wing span:

Identification: The wings are leaf-like and dark brown, with a light brown band (that appears brownish-mauve on the underside) on the outer postdiscal and submarginal regions. The hindwings have three small white spots and three blue markings, two of which have dark brown centres (visible on the underside without the blue outline), on the line. The hindwings also have a stub-like projection near the tornus. The forewings have two short black lines on the underside, from mid to costa, in the postbasal region. The underside of the forewings is a lighter shade of brown from mid to dorsum. The hindwings have two black basal spots and a central dark brown band on the underside.
