Hesperitis groundstreak

Wing span:

Identification: The wings are dark brown on the upperside with iridescent blue from mid to the cell above the dorsum on the hindwings. Females are also iridescent blue from mid to dorsum on the forewings. The hindwings have two tail-like projections and a small orangish-red tornal spot. The underside of the wings is creamish-brown with faint submarginal lunules. The forewings have a brown and white line running from mid to costa, and the hindwings have a wavy brown and white line running from costa to dorsum. The hindwings have two orange-crowned black tornal ocelli. The body is dark brown on the upperside and light brown on the underside.
