Calchinia hairstreak

Wing span:

Identification: The forewings are pale iridescent blue on the upperside from mid to base (excepting the costa) and dark brown from mid to margin. The hindwings are pale iridescent blue excepting the margin and submargins. The wings have white fringe. The hindwings have two tail-like projections near the tornus. The underside of the wings is white with orange and brown markings. The forewings have two brown lines running vertically from costa to dorsum. The hindwings also have two lines running vertically from costa to dorsum. The outer line of the hindwings is in line with the inner line of the forewings and is also brown. The inner line of the hindwings is a bit thicker and more orange and wavy. The hindwings have two orange-crowned black tornal ocelli. Both fore- and hindwings have faint brownish submarginal lunules.
