Gnosia hairstreak

Wing span:

Identification: The body and wings are dark brown on the upperside, with males having an iridescent purplish-blue tint on the body and from mid to cell above dorsum on the hindwings. The wings have white fringe. The tornus of the hindwings has a small orangish spot, and two-tail like projections adjacent to it (one hair-like and one a short stub). The forewings of males have two spots on the upperside near the costa of a slightly lighter shade of brown. The underside of the body and wings is light brown. The wings have a brown and white line running vertically from costa to dorsum. This line has an additional orange line on the inner side (no space between the two) on the hindwings. The hindwings have two orange-crowned black tornal ocelli. There are also submarginal brownish lunules with white borders on the underside of the hindwings.
