Esma longtail

Wing span:

Identification: Tailed butterfly with dark brown wings and white fringe. The underside of the wings are lighter brown except the tail and marginal regions which are dark brown. The upperside of the body, mid to base of the forewings and all of the hindwings except the margins have an iridescent green tint. The forewings have a central oblique transparent band consisting of four spots with one transparent spot adjacent to this band, and three smaller subapical transparent spots. The underside of the hindwings have a black discal band consisting of three spots with one black spot adjacent to this band. Additionally, there is a light brown parafocal line in the dark brown tail and marginal regions on the underside of the hindwings.
