Wing span:

Identification: The wings are dark brown with white fringe, except at the tornus of the hindwings which has orange edge and fringe. The forewings may or may not have central white markings. The wings have a bright iridescent blue tint; this appears on the underside on all of the forewings except the edges and on the two cells above the dorsum of the hindwings. The head and lower part of the abdomen are bright orange on the underside.

Variation: There is variation in the markings on the forewings. In some specimens, there are three central white spots and in others there is a central white band, which also varies in breadth. In some specimens, there are no markings on the forewings.
