Common scarlet-eye

Wing span:

Identification: This species is sexually dimorphic. Males are orange-brown on the upperside and yellow-brown on the underside. The forewings have four central yellow spots clustered close together, and six smaller subapical spots. The hindwings have two faint broad black bands. The termenal margins are dark brown. Females are dark brown with a central oblique band consisting of four white spots as well as six smaller white subapical spots and one white spots between the two bands. The hindwings have two faint broad black bands. The fringe on the dorsum on the upperside of the hindwings is yellow. The body and wing bases are yellow on the underside.
